New Beginnings

I’m pretty sure that beginnings always have to be new, but this is far from the worst logical contradiction (although “logical contradiction” is a pretty damn good one too) you’ll see today.

Given that you are the sort of person who is inclined to read my blog, you’re probably 1) upset, 2) curious, or 3) indifferent about the fact that I haven’t written anything for the better part of two months. This is partly due to laziness on my part, but mostly because nothing all that exciting happened between the end of school and my arrival in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Not to mention that everyone who does read this thing, i.e. Irina, knew about everything I did in St. Louis approximately thirty seconds after it happened.

So, what have I been doing with myself?

As I intimated to Yuri recently, I’ve been developing a real appreciation for number theory of late. So before too long I’ll be a pathetic academic scoffing at people who don’t do “pure” math. Actually these little math phases of mine tend to coincide with an increase in my general paranoia level and the consequent interest in cryptography. I think I’m going to leave off there for now and go do some rock climbing. Peace.
