I’m not wild about the idea of driving somewhere for the sole purpose of running somewhere else, but I suppose allowances can be made.

Obviously I haven’t been updating the blog lately (though there have been some behind-the-scenes upgrades, and hopefully you’ll notice decreased page load times). In lieu of actual content, I thought I’d share some of the reasons why, in order of ascending time-suck.
I fried my video card. A new cooling fan seems to be doing [...]
Thursday, I was able to get away from the brewery a little early, so I finally managed to get in a hike I’ve been trying to do all summer. Pass Creek Trail runs from Coal Bank Pass up to join the Colorado Trail. From the junction, there’s a quick but treacherous spur that runs most [...]
Why, what’s your weather like?
Actually, once the fog burns off this will probably be a really good day to ride the train. Indoor car, though.
The roads were finally clear enough for me to get in my first run since October, and holy crap, am I out of shape.

In case anyone was wondering what I’ve been doing in stead of blogging, here’s (part of) the answer. I finally got around to revamping the Silverton Brewing Co. website. It’s now 100% Flash-free, and 100% grammatically correct (probably). Also, I don’t know if you’ve ever poked around in some HTML source that was generated by [...]
It turns out that even if you leave the faucet running, this weather will get you. The overnight low was -14°F -26°F. I have been corrected by someone who actually had a thermometer outside.
Keep any Leonardo DiCaprio jokes to yourself.
Winters in Colorado are rough. Aside from the minor annoyances, like not being able to feel my toes for hours at a time, there are major obstacles to be overcome. Where can I brew when my deck has five feet of snow covering it?
So after six [...]
I took a while, but I finally had a day off work when it didn’t snow. So I took a hike up to the abandoned (silver?) mine just north of town, and got some pretty great photos.

Ordinarily, I post recipes as soon as they’re brewed, but with there being so many question marks on this one I felt that I needed to wait at least until I pulled the FG sample to weigh in. My first brew session in Colorado was full of other firsts too:
First time using a new [...]
