I paid $3 to see The Dark Side of Oz last night. That’s when one listens to Dark Side of the Moon while watching The Wizard of Oz. It was pretty cool, I guess. In a way I didn’t want it to line up because Pink Floyd’s music is so cool, even if it isn’t exactly my “scene”. I guess original music is hard enough to come by without having to worry about whether or not it’s based on a 60-year-old movie. Anyway, even as cynical as I was about the whole thing, there were a few parts of the movie that matched the music well enough that I was freaked out, and I was one of the few people in the audience who wasn’t stoned. Conclusion? The Dark Side of Oz is like a lot of other things; you believe it if you want to believe it.
So, if I may brutalize what could have been a decent segue, has cynicism gone too far? If everything is relative, is there anything holding us together? Discuss amongst yourselves.
